Youth Activity Sessions at the Farm

Bath City Farm has now obtained funding from the John Paul Getty Jnr Charitable Trust and B&NES Youth Enablement Fund to offer skills training for 13 to 25 year olds from the local area.  Volunteering at Bath City Farm is a fun and stimulating experience - the value of outdoor work cannot be underestimated and is a great opportunity to meet new friends.  Claire Mills, the newly appointed Youth Worker is running two new exciting youth projects:

Green Life Skills is a volunteering placement scheme for young people (aged 13 – 16) who are not attending school regularly or are at risk of exclusion. Sessions run every Tuesday afternoon during term time 1.00 - 3.15pm, with a maximum of only five in the group at any one time.

Get Green! is a project to help young people (aged 16 – 25) who are Not in Education, Employment or Training develop a wide range of work ready skills that can be transferred into employment or training. Sessions run every Wednesday afternoon 1–3pm. Lunch is provided and bus fares from Bath city centre can be reimbursed.

In both projects, young people will gain a wide range of practical skills that they could take further into employment or education including grounds maintenance, animal care, horticulture, wildlife conservation, as well as gaining a host of transferable skills such as problem solving, team building, communication skills, time keeping, a good work ethic and a sense of responsibility. Furthermore, they will also gain in self-confidence and have pride in the work they achieve.

Both projects will include learning basic animal care, conservation, horticultural skills, basic carpentry/ woodworking and grounds maintenance.

There will also be activities for all 10-16s during the school holidays - watch this space!

5-10 year olds Saturdays  10.00-11.45 am £1 per session.
Bath City Farm is a great place for children and young people to come. Not only do we have some wonderful farm animals but we also have 37 acres of land (that’s a lot of land, around 18 football pitches) to explore. We have been running popular clubs for children and young people since the summer 2010 and every week we try new things. Claire leads the session and Sam assists. We are always happy to have new recruits. All our sessions are run in a safe and professional environment. Bath City Farm has zero tolerance on bullies so everyone can get along and enjoy themselves.

5-10 yr Activities
