Pumpkin Party

Families and friends alike joined us for a Halloween celebration at the end of October helping raise money for the farm.

The event was our busiest event yet, with people enjoying our crafty workshops, bouncy castle and our farm animals. We were overwhelmed with support and visitors that we had sold out of pumpkins after an hour of opening! There were some fantastic Jack-O-Lanterns being carried home.

It was great to watch children and grown-ups getting to know our friendly farm animals. The goats and chickens loved meeting so many new people, especially those who had brought our animal feed. The stars of the show, however, were undoubtedly our newborn baby piglets – at just two days old those who queued to get a glimpse were rewarded with a truly “awww” inducing view of them snuggled together under their heat lamp. Don’t forget you can continue to support the animals here at the farm by sponsoring one through our ‘Adopt an Animal’ programme! It also makes a great Christmas present for friends and loved ones.

Volunteers who attend our Training at the Trough project did a fantastic job of cooking some scarily good food and treats to sell in our cafe, The Through. In lieu of eye of newt and toe of frog, our cauldron was bubbling with our creamy homemade pumpkin soup, served with a sourdough roll.

Being able to provide free community events that bring people together and provide enjoyment in nature is at the core of why we exists. These events wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you to everyone who came along your generosity helped raised £2,000 (event costs have not been deducted from the total) which is a vital contribution to ensuring the future of these events. A special thank you to our face painting expert who not only did an amazing job of transforming kids into ghoulish goons and spooky spectres but who donates her time and talent for free. Our events wouldn’t be the same without you.

If you missed out on this one, never fear – our next event is right around the corner! On Saturday the 7th December for our Winter Fair, meet Santa in his grotto, enjoy a deluxe hot chocolate from the cafe whilst listening to story telling from @happyfeltycreatures.
