Activities at the farm

Children's playground

Our popular children’s playground uses wood and tyres to create imaginative play for children. It is located next door to our cafe.

Farm trails

The Farm occupies 37 acres, or about 18 football pitches making us one of the largest city Farms in the UK.

As well as the Farm we have fields and woodland, ponds and stunning views across Bath. The Farm is home to an amazing 1000 species of flowers, plants, insects and wildlife, all making it a wonder for all ages to explore on foot.

You can purchase copies of our nature hunt and trail guide for £1 from our Farm office

Animals

We have a variety of chickens and ducks, which both provide eggs that we sell in our Farm Shop.  We also have pigs, various rare breeds of sheep and Pygmy goats.

Dougie and Dougal, our Shetland ponies, move around from pens to field, where they like to chase the sheep, and so can be hard to track down! The cows, when we have them, graze our furthest fields, helping to maintain and increase biodiversity in our rugged natural landscape.

The
Countryside

Please remember the Countryside Code when visiting any farm or rural area:

  • Be safe, plan ahead and follow any signs.
  • Leave gates and property as you find them.
  • Never dig up wild plants, some are protected by law.
  • Take your litter home. Leftover food can be dangerous to farm animals.

Can I bring a dog to Bath City Farm?

We do have a lot of livestock, so well behaved dogs on a lead are very welcome. We are sorry but dogs are not permitted inside our cafe building, but are allowed onto the terraces outside.

Is there an entrance fee?

It is free to come into Bath City Farm, however, as a charity donations towards our work are very welcome. You can put a cash donation into our donation bin near our main office, text the word GOAT followed by your donation amount eg GOAT5 to 70085 or visit our donate page here on our website.

How do I get to Bath City Farm? Can I travel by public transport?

Please see our Getting Here page for full details of where we are and the best way to travel.

Can I feed the animals?

For the safety of our animals, please only feed them with food that you have brought on-site at the Farm - we sell goat feed for £1 a bag which our Pygmy goats love. Please do not feed them human food.

What should we wear?

Please wear suitable footwear. Some parts of the site are sloped and in wet weather there may be increased risk of slips and falls. Visitors are advised to provide their own sunscreen, water, sun hats etc. in hotter months.

What is your animal welfare policy?

We aim to provide exceptional animal welfare to all of our animals including those bred for meat. We serve farm reared pork and lamb products in our Farm cafe. We hope by being an open access farm we can educate people about where food comes from and enable them to make informed decisions around their diet, including if and how to eat meat. If you have any concerns or questions about the welfare or safety of our animals, please get in touch either online or at the farm. View the latest version of our Animal Welfare Policy
